Gibson earned her MFA in painting at The University of the Arts in Philadelphia and her BFA in painting from Edinboro University in Edinboro, Pennsylvania. She currently teaches art history and drawing at The Art Institute in Philadelphia.

Gibson, who has shown nationally in her career, is lifting the curtain before a fresh visual world.  Some of her strongest work in the past has been intensely abstract, and this collection makes strides toward representation that is more literal.  Gibson creates a dream-like tableau where disparate images are seen together in different visual styles. This allows the paintings to be experienced in a way that is not always rational.  Her work inhabits a space that can be associated with dreams, or nightmares, or sudden bursts of memory.
